The following four images are the same GIF picture, same size, with different total numbers of colors. See how reducing the number of colors affects file size and picture quality.

NOTE:The original pink rose image was from the Corel Gallery 1.0 clip art collection. Due to limitations in the license, I cannot duplicate it here, so I'm using a different rose image.

GIF Image, 8 bits/pixel (256 Colors), 19K.

GIF Image, 7 bits/pixel (128 Colors), 15K.

GIF Image, 5 bits/pixel (32 Colors), 9K.
